What is Unity?
Unity is a non-denominational, practical Christian movement that was founded on the power of prayer and the teachings of Jesus. Unity's worldwide outreach includes a 115-year old, 24-hour prayer ministry called Silent Unity, publishing of spiritual books and periodicals including the Daily Word, and educational programs for personal development, teaching, and ministry. Unity churches can be found all over the world.
The 5 basic beliefs of Unity are:
- There is only one power and one presence in the Universe, God!
God is the all-powerful essence of goodness and love.
- Every individual has the Spirit of the Christ within them.
Our true nature is spiritual.
- Thoughts that we hold in our minds produce similar events and situations in our lives.
(Law of Mind-Action). Pay attention to your repetitive thoughts because you have the power to transform your thinking and therefore your life.
- Prayer and meditation are the keys to spiritually waking up.
Take time every day for your daily bread - time apart to sit in silence and listen to Spirit. Throughout each day, think or speak truth statements that deny negativity and affirm the truth and speak to God as your friend. Prayer changes you and your mind and every prayer is answered.
- Our lives reflect our beliefs.
Unity is a movement of practical Christianity so get out and live the principles!
