About Unity RisingA new leg of your spiritual journey has begun the moment you say yes to an intentional spiritual journey. Unity Rising is attuned to this process. We begin holding space for each individual participant even before he or she registers! Breakthroughs, a-has, or even subtle changes occur in unique and unexpected ways when we travel outside our comfort zone – yet in loving safety. It is our intention to keep that delicate balance so that each participant may stretch themselves while knowing they are supported by the group and guides. Our journeys may be diverse in activities and terrain, however each brings us into greater attunement with the Divine nature in all of us. A four-member board of experienced travelers and spiritual co-journeyers governs Unity Rising and contributes to the development and coordination of trips. Kristin Powell founded Unity Rising in 2003 in response to a message she received in meditation to begin a travel ministry. Spirit’s guidance brought a delightful surprise that combined her greatest passions for two kinds of adventures – travel and spiritual. It has also been Kristin’s joy to serve as Senior Minister at Unity Center of Columbia in Columbia, Missouri since 2005. www.unitycenterofcolumbia.org In a prior slice of life, Kristin served as supervisor and telephone prayer associate in the Silent Unity Telephone Prayer Ministry intermittently from 1999 until June of 2005. During this time, she was also Assistant Youth Education Director, Prayer Chaplain Director, and frequent speaker at Unity Temple on the Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri. Kristin was ordained a Unity minister in June of 2002 in Lee's Summit, Missouri. Prior to ministry, she worked as an educational evaluator for a professional development program involving Chicago Public School teachers. Kristin received an M.Ed in International Education from Loyola University in Chicago and a B.A. in Speech Communication from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio and studied abroad in Rome, Italy and Luxembourg. Unity Rising draws upon the teachings of Unity (www.unity.org), the wisdom of Mother Nature and nature-connected peoples, and contemporary spiritual teachers such as Eckhart Tolle. Tolle’s message of remaining present to the now moment centers us in the midst of the ever-changing landscape of spiritual travel. |
